SSG Private RallyPoint Member 1220967 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>For the past few years I&#39;ve been trying to get enrolled for SSD2 and 3 and I&#39;ve also been trying to get a seat for ALC with no success. First I thought the training Warrant Officer in my last unit was slacking, but I&#39;m in a new unit and it&#39;s pretty much the same thing. Recently the training NCO told he&#39;ll put me on the list for SSD. Is there a waiting list that I&#39;m not aware of? With the new promotion in place I want to complete all of my educational requirements for my rank so that I can move up to the next rank and it feels like they&#39;re making it impossible to do that. Is this just in the reserves or are people on active having the same problem? Why is it hard to be enrolled for SSD and NCOES school? 2016-01-07T13:32:32-05:00 SSG Private RallyPoint Member 1220967 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>For the past few years I&#39;ve been trying to get enrolled for SSD2 and 3 and I&#39;ve also been trying to get a seat for ALC with no success. I in-processed into my current Reserve unit last November and during the December assembly I spoke to the Schools NCO in S3 about SSD2. I received the notification in less than 14 days that I was enrolled into the class. Some units have squared away personnel that will get the ball rolling and some units have people that just love to smoke and joke every moment possible. And each ALC is dependant on your MOS and your units budget (which should be covering any NCOES) Response by WO1 Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 7 at 2016 3:06 PM 2016-01-07T15:06:14-05:00 2016-01-07T15:06:14-05:00 SFC Private RallyPoint Member 1221301 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>SSG 2 was the hardest to get into. I had to email them directly. You have to have SSD2 finished preprocessor to going to ALC. SSD 3 will be automatic once you successfully complete ALC Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 7 at 2016 3:28 PM 2016-01-07T15:28:19-05:00 2016-01-07T15:28:19-05:00 SSG(P) Brian Kliesen 1221639 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I am having the same problem. I realize now that I may have to wait a couple years for a slot to ALC, which I believe are MOS specific. My new unit talks about a lack of funding and slots to go to the appropriate school. I also realize that I likely won't be paid for completing SSD2. My old unit continues to submit the paperwork, but nothing happens. Soon enough they will stop trying and I will be out of luck. Just another exciting day in the Army Reserves. I have called, emailed, talked to schools, and even submitted a 4187 to get to ALC with NO success. My MOS is backed up. There are a lot of people in the same boat apparently and the class numbers are small. I am EXTREMELY frustrated at this because now I am ineligible to be promoted until ALC is complete. <br />It was one hell of a fight to even get SSD2 for some reason. Apparently taking care of other people in line is more important sometimes than helping a SGT who is hungry for advancement. Needless to say I am tired of this sh*t and am praying my packet gets selected for Navy OCS. <br />I'll be singing "F*ck this sh*t I'm out" as I out process the army while my unit is at JRTC and go earn a better paygrade in the Navy. The sad thing is for SSD 2, your schools NCO should have enrolled you right away. I say that because ours schools NCO enrolls every NCO into SSD 2. Like my schools NCO, yours schools NCO or at least your 1SG should have put out every NCO needs to be enrolled in SSD 2. Hell, I know you're already a SSG, our CSM makes it a requirement for the board like BLC is for the E5 board Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 7 at 2016 9:24 PM 2016-01-07T21:24:44-05:00 2016-01-07T21:24:44-05:00 SFC Private RallyPoint Member 1222657 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>It doesn't work in the Reserve. If they say there's "no funding" your pretty much SOL. It's annoying as hell.
