Why does the media only appear to focus on homelessness around Thansgiving? Is it not an issue the rest of the year?

It is because that is the time they focus on it, and it can be written before Thanksgiving, and they take vacation...the story looks fresh and is not outdated!

Folks give during the holidays either in good spirit or tax breaks. The media follows the stories and certain folks want to show face in doing so.

When I was very active in veteran issues, I found that people and organizations were more amenable to helping people who, granted, have been hungry, dirty, and dismayed the rest of the year. It is what it is. Nobody really wants to look like a scrooge during the 3 months of holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's).
