This just goes to show Hillary is viewed in the military. You can count me among those going for Trump. After what she has done in Benghazi I honestly don't know how any service could support her. Leave Americans to die and not even sending any support to them is not something that goes over well with many of us. I don't think I will have to go to much into detail about that.

I honestly don't see how anybody with any ties to the military (active, vet, retired, etc.) could have ANYTHING to do with Hillary. Just for the email scandal alone! We would have gone to Leavenworth had we done what she did!

I read this today. Through I am sure it is a good standing of how many in the military feel I can't help but to question the size of the respondents. It has less than 1,000. I would surely believe that the Military Times would be able to get more than that.

The minute I heard that Benghazi was attacked, I pulled out a map of the Mediterranean and an almanac of aircraft capabilities. Bad news. Even if we decided to attack Libyans without notifying their government, there were no assets available that could gear up, launch, and be on target before the next morning. Even the aircraft carriers were too far away. I was reminded of other attacks over the decades, devastating attacks on American assets, Marine barracks, embassies, and the USS Cole. Sometimes the bad guys win. The best we could do was find the bad guys and assassinate them later.

Hilary- Service members are pissed about email scandal and lack of follow through in regard to losing troops under her watch. She simply doesn't appear to care. However, Bill fooled around on her, we all sympathize with that one soldier who's significant other did something similar. She seems to garner sympathy more than respect.

Trump- Everyone knows that one angry senior enlisted who swears if he ran the Army we'd win all the wars. He has no education, but he's been in the military since Washington was in charge. He also refuses to be politically correct and he constantly talks smack. We always say how'd he make a horrible general, but we kind of wonder if maybe he would do ok. That's Trump and that's why the military likes him.

More of a SWAG (Scientific Wild Ass Guess) than a fact. I think that military members view support (budget) and respect of the military as an institution (not the same as concern/pity for military members) as very significant issues. The reputation of the Republican Party is stronger in those areas than the Democrats. Having said that, I still find Mr. Trumps belief that the military would torture prisoners and target the non-combatant families of the enemy on his orders as unforgiveable. I believe the support is less about Mr. Trump, and more about having a Republican in the White House.

What has happened with the VA, the military ( we are at our lowest since WWII), culling of good officers out of the service, micromanaging troop actions, ignoring military brass warnings about draw downs in Iraq. The Obama administration seems to hold the military in utter contempt. I don't see any indication Hillary will change any of this. Then the fact that she lied to grieving relatives as the bodies of those killed in Libya came home is appalling! We have an excellent military, if you put them in harms way let them do what needs to be done to complete the job. Hillary has already indicated she is more concerned about CYA than task out come.

The military has historically been conservative. Nothing new there. Over 20 years active duty taught me that. The progressives I knew in the Army usually kept their political opinions to themselves to avoid the macho harassment so common.
Hillary is a poor choice. But she is far better than a "reality-show" host.

I'm glad to see the percent of "Would not vote" shrinking. Every service member and veteran should vote. Our oath to Support and Defend the Constitution includes using the right to vote that we agreed to die for. If you have to "hold you nose" and vote for the candidate you believe is least objectionable, that's fine. Please vote.

We have gotten to the point where many are voting for one to keep the other from winning. Various polls show that the two most hated POTUS candidates are Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. If you hate Hillary more you are voting for Trump, if you hate Trump more you are voting for Hillary. Then there are of course the loyal ones that are indeed Trump or Hillary voters/followers.

Party over person, mostly. The case for the military dislike of HRC is deep and many. Email issues that would get the rest of us (uniformed and Fed) in prison, Benghazi, the general disdain of the military by the Clinton, etc. Many of those for Trump like his directness (a proud military characteristic), and even more, his non-PC stance. IMHO, those military who are in Hillary's camp are voting party, and not the person.

All the military leadership actually involved with Benghazi have clearly laid out to multiple republican led investigations that there were no assets that could arrive on scene in time to make any difference. But no one on the right wants to believe that. Plus, they suddenly think that the SECSTATE herself personally directs military operations. It's already part of the record that she told the SECDEF to do everything they can to assist. All the rest is pure bullshit.

But how could the military not respect a guy who got mutliple deferements from serving in VN, then said that he believes he was in the military because he went to a military themed school for rich kids; and then stated that he felt like dodging getting a sexually transmitted disease during the 70s while screwing a bunch of women was his Vietman, and he survived. Yep, obviously that guy has done lots of stuff to earn the respect of today's military.

As many have noted, I'm not sure a sample size of 951 is quite big enough to be representative of the nearly 2 million in uniform. Also, this is just one poll, and if we've learned anything in this primary cycle, it should be that one poll on its own isn't worth a whole lot. Finally, as nationwide polls asking the same question routinely are showing that Clinton and especially Sanders would destroy Trump in a general election (by margins of 13-20+ %), if we take this military.com poll as representative of the military, then the military skews conservative/Rwpublican/Trump quite a bit.......which aligns with what we've seen in general elections over the last couple cycles.

People vote based on their own belief system, how they were raised, what part of the country they come from. I'm going to venture to say very little of it has to do what with the military or what we read in rallypoint... Unless you didn't have a belief system before you joined.

HRC is awful for a ton of different reasons.
However, even if a dem was the perfect candidate, it feels like the military generally votes republican, no matter how detrimental that is to their own interests.
