Nothing new, and not just Obama. Presidents all the way back to Gerald Ford who famously said "Live from New York, its Saturday Night" when Chevy Chase's parody grew popular have made appearances on the popular shows of their times. Both Bush 41 and 43 have appeared on many TV shows, as did President Reagan, Clinton who played the Sax on late night TV and yes, Obama is doing the Ellen Degeneres show.

Sounds good to me.

There is nothing wrong with it. Politicians have to be seen and get their message out. Most of the time they pick friendly venues to do so, and Ellen is about as friendly to the democrat party as anyone could get.

What's the problem with it. He is on his way out and has already showed what he is all about to the world, good or bad. Most people think he is a joke as a President so it won't change their minds any.

I think the question is really does it matter, no, presidents have appeared on talk shows before ,it doesn't really matter.

I don't care who it is, if you are the POTUS, your job is not making the talk show circuit. In the case of this POTUS, he has a history on this particular program dating back to his days as a US Senator campaigning for the Democratic nomination. He also has a history on Oprah who filled his head with the notion he should run for POTUS.

It is how politicians get in front of people that do not watch news programs (or very little). The segment of our population being "informed" by these shows is growing. Some folks think that shows like Colbert/DeGeneres and a myriad of others are informative or real news shows.

They mostly know they will be given softball questions and will get to look like just good old down to earth folk. It is the proverbial plastic banana.

I think its nothing more than a pr scam to boost the DNC ratings. After all, they are pushing Hillary Clinton which is a real bad choice for POTUS.
