I believe they think you want to stay in until you request to separate. Surprise, Surprise, You don&#39;t retire at 20 contrary to popular opinion you go on &quot;Retainer&quot; in the Navy that means Transfer to the Fleet Reserve. I transferred to the Fleet Reserve in Sept 1997 I &quot;Retired&quot; Sept 2006. They had to bring him back on AD to go thru the retirement process. He was awesome at the technical part of his job, but not so much the paper work. But if you want to just EAS out...big problem to get your retirement pay stared up if you do that. Don't wait to be told, I know that you will know when it's time.
