Also, I sort of wish the Army would have tried to come up with something more modern and unique rather than going for a retread for the second time in a row. Especially since it hasn't even been that long since the last change.Response by SGT Christopher Hayden made Jun 10 at 2020 10:29 PM2020-06-10T22:29:56-04:002020-06-10T22:29:56-04:00CPL Patrick O'Driscoll5992522

It’s just annoying when the Army keeps referring to the need for this because the greatest generation wore it and it looked cool.

....but then they changed it from what they wore in WWII and what they thought was so cool. WWII was a time of great challenges and even greater accomplishments for the US Army. Something to be proud of. Good to look back on with pride.Response by Lt Col Jim Coe made Jun 11 at 2020 1:59 PM2020-06-11T13:59:02-04:002020-06-11T13:59:02-04:00CW2 Private RallyPoint Member7011444

The issue I always see is people hating on the ASU/Blues and loving the AGSU because the AGSU is "historic".....completely ignoring that the ASU/Blues are based on even more historic uniforms of the Army during the 1800s.
Generals having dark pants because they aren't getting faded like the troops who didn't wear the coat because it was hot so the pants faded into a lighter blue...and it looks amazing with a Stetson.

But the main reason, here it is, this is why people love the AGSU/Greatest Generation uniforms.......the 23,087,349 movies about WWII. It's what is seen the most.
Saving Private Ryan, Band of Brothers are amazing yes, but that doesn't mean it's the best uniform.

I'm with you on being tired of changing uniforms. Since I've joined I've had: sweat suit, APFU, now IPFU; BDUs, UCP ACUs, OCP ACUs, now Scorpion ACUs; Class A's (greens), ASU, and now am starting to put $ away for AGSU. (Don't get me wrong, getting rid of the UCP was a GOOD idea, that thing should never have happened!)

We just made the Blues into the "normal" dress uniform back in like 2011/12 and only 10 years later are downgrading it back to "tuxedo only" status again? I'd really like to be a fly on the wall at HQDA to see the shenanigans among these decisions. I'm pretty sure it resembles Pentagon Wars and just has people getting close to retiring trying to set themselves up or wanting that 4th Star.

The only people really loving all of this Army craziness of the last 20 years is Ira Green, Vanguard, AAFES, and Marlow White.Response by CW2 Private RallyPoint Member made May 29 at 2021 12:02 PM2021-05-29T12:02:03-04:002021-05-29T12:02:03-04:002020-06-10T22:16:39-04:00
