Why do the two female M&Ms represent the Air Force?

With the big push to put females in combat roles, why not have one of the female M&Ms represent the Army, Marines, or Navy?

FACT: During WWII, the candies were exclusively sold to the military.

Clearly, the graphic designer had no idea but the balance of positive and negative space is accomplished in the art and that completed the whole design.

It's all about the symmetries of the photo. The way the place everything. I know it is for comic relief but it really is about placement. What is the first thing you spot when you look at it the Red M&M, they put the warm colors up front and the cool colors in the back.

You pick up on these things when you do graphics design. lol

The smallest and least imposing character is supposed to be a coastie, so maybe the artist DOES know a thing or two about the service.

After reading all the comments so far, all I can say is...They're cartoon candy characters!

Well lets see, You have the Air Force represented buy the M&M, female as it maybe, standard size. Then you have the Army represented by the M&M again standard size. Then you have the Navy and the Marines represented by the Peanut M&M. Does this mean that they are a bigger and badder force? Does this mean that they are Nuts? hmm........ this is where I would be kinda pissed as a service member. They have the M&M Mini serving as the Coast Guard. What are they trying to say here. Small force? Small in statue? HHMMMM. things that make you go HHHMMMM? LOL

Might been they where ignorant of the military and the fact they where trying to get all of the types of M&M's and the normal characters in the shot. that's just me. Not being mean just funny!

It really always boils down to aesthetics. The designer went with what he/she thought looked the best and most likely didn't give a moment's thought to being gender inclusive across branches.

Also, everyone knows the AF are a bunch of girly men. Except A-10 pilots. A-10 pilots are gods.

never mind the uniforms. Not one of those m&ms could pass the height weight chart standards.
