Why do so many people enter a discussion unprepared?

Why do people enter discussions/ answer questions when they do not have an opinion or possess any knowledge on the subject?

I really didn't see an answer is have chosen. Maybe to be obnoxious (that's the closest one to what is have chosen).

What I think to be worse than that is how people are intolerant to an opinion or facts that counter what they posted. I thought this was a "discussion" board.

The word "discussion" implies an interchange of ideas, facts, opinions, and even debate. However - that doesn't mean people should bicker and have the proverbial pillow fight when they are countered.

Because they want to be heard, even if they have no idea what they are talking about. Because they feel they know more than anyone else, and if you use a news source, it damn well better be the only one they agree with...or they will continue to repost their news source as the only valid one. Because they read the initial question on the page, but can't be bothered to check out the entire story based on the link provide (If there is one). Or the better one yet....just to start crap.

Why do people pose questions, which in its form is asking a person for their opinion, but then not giving any credence to the opinion because it may differ from the questioner?
