Why do I keep seeing recycled content/questions that haven't been updated or commented on recently?

I'm being notified of threads that haven't been touched in over a year. I like it because I'm seeing good content, but I'm curious - why ?

We're always going though and not only refining existing tags and titles, but also adding and removing tags. When I find one, I usually find three or four others so inevitably we end up changing tags on old discussions. There's a lot old content that people are missing because the tags need to be updated. This also illustrates why its important for members to only tag content with the proper subjects, not an intended audience. Otherwise members are going to see things they don't care about.

That explains it, then. I wound up dropping "history" out of my interests because I got notified on every single "this day in the Civil War" post ever written one night.
