Why didn't you do 'twenty'?

We all have our reasons, some out of our control, some personal...some might be none of my business.

Would you share your reason, obviously this doesn't apply to those that did twenty or more.

I was offered recruiting and/or Drill Instructor School...I chose an exit from active duty...today, I would have done either one. I hit 18.5 years this Feb...what did you get offered? SSG P, B

Still pushing on after 20+, too stubborn to retire. Plus if you saw the crap in uniform today, I'm scared to leave them in charge of the safety of the porta shitter never mind my country.

Loved my job - Hated the "Navy"

Hated being treated like a child. They (them who were not us) trusted us to run a nuke plant on a submarine xx miles off the Kamchatka Peninsula, but they didn't trust us on the San Diego beaches at noon on a Friday?

Wanted to finish school.

After I got out, though, the VA found an odd blood disorder that I apparently picked up between December 26th 2006 (the day I came home from Iraq without an out-processing physical) and February 28th 2007 (the day the VA found the oddity in my blood), so I couldn't get back in when I tried a few months later. ... Just to answer your curiosity, I apparently didn't get it while in Iraq (though no evidence of it exists before deployment), so I must have picked it up after within that one month period? lol...

It is called ITP.

I have two children that I do not have custody of. The relationship fell apart during the time it took to complete boot,mct, and mos school. That was the hardest part of my whole enlistment was not being in my kids life for 4 years.
