Why can some people use an alias on RP?

A few times I have seen people on here with the name SGT (Servicemenber) or MAJ MAJ as usernames. There are some others that I have come across that I forget. Why are people allowed to continue without the full disclosure of their identities in their profile?

If I recall correctly some profiles end up incorrect do to "importation" from Facebook.

The "hidden" profiles like SGT (Servicemember) are folks who aren't sharing their information with people outside their contact list. We have a variety of options including Full Hide, Initials Only, etc.

COL Private RallyPoint Member In settings you can choose who can see your name, picture and other information. Just because everyone cannot see it doesn't mean it's not there.

Could be some on active duty don't want the world to know about them or where they live.

A few months ago, I asked an Army Captain who I argue with a lot, if I can call him by his first name. He said "not only NO but hell NO"...& because it is 1st; he outranks me and 2nd; doesn't want his name shown on RP....So I said "Yes Sir and called him Capt" which he was OK, I guess??? . Because he did give me two endorsements which was rather interesting & we swapped photos of our kids..

Many have security and privacy concerns, I understand that. I have always been an in your face person, military and civilian. I have been physically and legally threatened, but continue using my real identity believe full disclosure helps to see where you are coming from. That's just a personal trait.

I certainly understand people on active duty or a reservist wanting to conceal identities with a political comment forum such as we have here.

LTC Halvorson Sir, I'm not sure, if you want to connect or speak to me with Facebook and the internet being hack like it is, and as and IT individual, trying help control monitor and secure computer sites, each of you have to TRUST, and USE, Regular FB, and LinkedIn to verify the person to connect with on RallyPoint. I do. If they do not match, I don't.

BTW, I have to think about the Privacy of the other colleages ID and MISSIONS they might be on. I speak to a lot of people around the WORLD, and there safety is my #1 concern!
