But an officer over 15 that falls under OSB (officers over 18 fall under ESERB) can collect TERA. So basically an NCO with a DUI can get QMP'd whereas an Officer with one could get involuntarily separated by an OSB but collect TERA.Response by SGM Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 22 at 2016 12:17 PM2016-04-22T12:17:05-04:002016-04-22T12:17:05-04:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member1472425<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Who knows why standards are different. They should offer the same benefit for TERA. I would take it but I'm not QSP or QMP.Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 22 at 2016 6:06 PM2016-04-22T18:06:11-04:002016-04-22T18:06:11-04:00CPT Mark Gonzalez1472513<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>An officer that has derogatory information in his file, such as a GOMAR or referred OER, will(can) face elimination by what is referred to as a show cause board. This absolutely happens as I have served multiple elimination notices. The number of officers facing an OSB for misconduct or derog is very small, as it would have had to have been a recent filing or minor offense, otherwise they would have already been show caused. OSB's are a function of force shaping and the vast majority do not have anything derogatory in their file. QMP on the other hand as defined is for derog. And that comes in many forms and can be something very minor or more serious. <br />So QMP equals some form of misconduct and no Tera, whereas OSB can TERA if they have more than 14 years 6 months upon notification. TERA is also not a guarantee, but something that can be applied for. If it was a guarantee Soldiers could purposefully fail their APFT at 15 years and be guaranteed a prorated retirement through Tera. I have learned over time that the Army will require loyalty from you as an Army Value, but make no mistake the Army will not show you the same loyalty as they continue to separate many qualified Soldiers.Response by CPT Mark Gonzalez made Apr 22 at 2016 6:41 PM2016-04-22T18:41:20-04:002016-04-22T18:41:20-04:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member1473001<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>That's a good question MSG..Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 23 at 2016 12:50 AM2016-04-23T00:50:17-04:002016-04-23T00:50:17-04:00LTC Private RallyPoint Member1478248<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>OSB and QSP are comparable programs, except QSP only considers retirement eligible NCOs, so TERA is not required. As others have stated, QMP is the NCO equivalent of a Show Cause board on the officer side, considering derogatory information.Response by LTC Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 25 at 2016 7:08 PM2016-04-25T19:08:02-04:002016-04-25T19:08:02-04:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member1478371<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>From my experiences, seems like the Army really only takes care of officers (my personal opinion) so why wouldn't that continue in all aspects, but in reality you could be a great soldier ( enlisted or officer) but if you just happen to piss off the wrong people, you're basically done.Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 25 at 2016 8:39 PM2016-04-25T20:39:31-04:002016-04-25T20:39:31-04:002016-04-22T12:07:31-04:00
