Why are we (WOs) dividing ourselves into WOBC, WOSC, and WOSSC? I printed out my profile for my new brigade commander so that he knew the unit's I deployed with, the schools attended and the duties I had . CW5 Sam R. Except for WOBC (the initial issue 'toolbox'), each course should be supplying additional tools to have greater understanding of our national defense in general and our branch specialty in particular. I'd argue receiving the courses as early as possible, but don't let who else is in the course influence what benefit it has for you personally. Rank is a general indicator of experience and ability, but not a hard and fast guide; some managers or supervisors refuse to get out of their box and understand the personalities and jobs they rate and do more harm than good. Each course, and each warrant officer, should be accessible to provide information that will benefit the greater cohort, without reservation of rank. Under the Total Warrant Officer Study (TWOS) we, warrant officers, got away from having "W" on an MTOE and moved to an actual rank, e.g. W2, W3, W4 or W5. This allow for better talent management. Just as a CPT does not have the experiences of a COL as CW2 does not have the same experience as a CW5. It does not mean the CW2 is less than, only needs to gain more experiences and additional levels of education. The new Warrant Officer 2025 Strategy's LOE #2 Development codifies how the Army intends to get after warrant officer development and education. CW5 Andrew J.
