Why are there no outcries of rage as our children are being taught the 5 pillars of Islam in schools, but immediate outcry w/Christianity?

Common Core includes the 5 pillars of Islam. Our children are being taught fallacies about human history in their lengthy study of Islam. Islam is a religion. Christianity is a religion. Christianity was a part of the formation of the United States which has been taken out of our teaching curriculum. Why are there no outcries of separation of church and state that are so commonly heard whenever a Christian mentions God, but not when Islam and Allah are being taught in our schools?

Largely because the media makes it a focus. Christianity is a majority here in the United States, so when we talk about God/Jesus, we are "trampling the rights of the minority". There is a defined double standard in public media. Look at the police shootings. For every one you show of a white cop/black or minority kid, there is another that is a black cop with nearly the SAME exact scenario...no public outrage. Ditto for the religion. Affirmative action says "Everyone should be equal. But if there are two equally qualified persons, then the person of a minority is now more equally qualified than others."

There are benefits to affirmative action, but I think the days of it being a benefit are waning....

The reason it is there is to empower minorities and get students to think about other worldviews than the one they were raised in. It is assumed that most are familiar with Christian teachings.
Problem is, when you emphasize one over another, you don't empower thought, you oppress it.

I believe that at the appropriate age, diffeerences in religion is essential to be taught WITHOUT favoring/discouraging one above another. We don't hide from tough topics because of controversy. We have to give some sort of education so kids can learn what is causing the controversy. These are the kids that will join the work force, the military, and lead our Nation when we rock away on the front porch and yell at those punks to get off our lawn. We don't say Christianity/Islam is bad because.........but we serve no one's best interest by telling kid's "I'm not allowed to discuss differences in religion, so figure it out on your own why the world around you is at war." Everyone's historical knowledge and perspective of events is based on several things.#1: History is written by the victors. I am married to a Japanese woman and her best friend is German. When we have discussions over a cup of coffee about WWII you would want to be a fly on the wall! All I need is a Russian and Chinese friend and within 15 minutes the cops would be called. If introducing religious differences at a younger age opens some eyes as to what other kids are being taught in school, that makes for better understanding. Let's just hope these teachers aren't extremists!

Oh trust me PO1 Kuhn, there is a LOT of outrage among parents, but each time they raise their heads, they get used in a game of "Wack a Mole" pointed out as racists and bigots, and those titles are has hard to live down in a small neighborhood as that of animal abuser or child molester!

Now, what I have noticed is that every family who can afford it, has quietly taken their children out of public school and into private schools, and those who can't, have suddenly taken an interest in Home Schooling, which by Texas Law, is easily allowed.... HOWEVER the state sends out their study guides and materials, so I'm not sure what is involved with that.

I am still pondering why, if our children cannot even mention God, prayer, or Bible in school, how is it right that they are being taught from someone else's version of a holy book... and taught what it is to be a Muslim? Does that mean I can trot my happy butt to the local school with a Torah, and teach the kids about Kosher?

LIfe is just so confusing for me now...

As someone who has graduated High School in this last Century, actually this last Decade, I would like point out that in world history we are taught about multiple religions. We are taught about Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism and Hinduism. Schools are not just skipping over these things. I could not find a digital copy of the textbooks we used in High School, but I did find an outline for the history book and everything that it covers in reference to the curriculum in Wisconsin (I am not from WI, but it is the best reference I can find.) Now, if only we can have people not get up in arms before doing research on there own, maybe the country can move forward.
