Why are soldiers in uniform at the NYC Bomb site? Do we have a unit in NYC or Reserves or National Guard there?

We do have Military Members on JTF's, for counter terro operations and they are there as advisers and technical experts, like SOF, EOD CBRN-E, and Military Civil Engineering, we have senior enlisted billets on these task forces, and I believe there are four, set up by region. They do not arm up, just to advise in Disaster Recovery Operations and this would be terrorist activities, and I believe there is a element in or around New York. I was trying to get one of these assignments in Atlanta before I retired, but went to AFG instead. They are special assigned billets, and you must be selected and vetted.

It's a form of State Active Duty. For some it's their full time jobs. It's similar to a tech job with some units. Basically they guard different areas, including terminals and critical infrastructure. The state has been doing it for years since 9/11.
