Deaf ears.

There is the "perception" that we are more violent than we were before. It's not backed by fact. As the standard of living and overall education in the US has increased, crime and violence has gone down.

There are "hot spots" of violence (high population density, low education, high poverty) but they are anomalies, not rule. There's been a huge effort to denounce gun ownership and blame guns for the mass shootings which have been very prevalent for the last decade right? In response to that effort (by the left, Democrats, and the President) record gun sales have been occurring as well. Seems to me that the increase in gun ownership is working toward stemming the homicide rate. Still like to know why the chart refers to two different issues homicides vs belief that crime is increasing. It is possible for a crime to occur without causing a homicide.Response by Maj Kevin "Mac" McLaughlin made Sep 14 at 2016 9:14 AM2016-09-14T09:14:33-04:002016-09-14T09:14:33-04:00CW5 Private RallyPoint Member1891247

I read the Economist as well. I have a subscription to the mag. I find that their information though, while very interesting and supported by statistics (polls, FBI, etc), can be skewed to meet the European views of America. For instance, the comparison of crime perception vs. homicides paints a wrong picture. It should be perception vs. all crimes/felonies.

In a lot of their articles, they bash Trump or use him as an example of American views while ignoring the other candidates. They also take the time to criticize our system of economics and government but then again, they do that to their own (pro-Brexit people only though) and all the other countries of the world as well. Its a rather elitist periodical IMO.Response by CW5 Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 14 at 2016 9:25 AM2016-09-14T09:25:19-04:002016-09-14T09:25:19-04:00Maj Marty Hogan1891262

COL Lee Flemming the media doesn't want people to know this.
