Some of us only jump into subjects days after it was originally discussed. Then again, what happens if something big happens politically on an assigned "no politics day". Do we all just pretend nothing happened while we all watch the clock waiting for the time change to spam the site with 30 different posts all about the same subject.

It'd be an interesting idea to see implemented, I just can't imagine how it would work. I'm pretty neutral on the subject. Realistically though, when one doesn't feel like dealing with politics, the best course of action is phone off and turn on Netflix (either that or a book if one feels like a 100% detox). It's easier to turn off Social Media than it is to police the people on it. We are members of a diverse community with many differing points of view. I think that honest debate is helps deal with the divisive issues. If you can talk rationally and respectfully with people you disagree with, you can at the very least reach an understanding. Yes, there are childish responses from time to time, but you can't expect everyone to behave in a civil manner.
