Major General Lewis B. (Chesty) Puller.

Followed closely by my father who served in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. He was awarded multiple medals to include the Bronze Star, numerous Good Conduct Medals, Meritorious Service Medals, Korean War Medal just to name a few.

While he's not what we American's consider a soldier.....I nominate Miyamoto Musashi.

Any warrior-priest that lived off the land for years at a time, challenging and besting numerous entire schools of various types of warfare all along the country side has to be considered one bad mama jamba. In one particular battle he defeated an acknowleged master samurai with only a wooden / bamboo (depends on who is writing) sword - all while the master samurai had armor and a majestic set of swords - I have to give him the vote for greatest warrior.

Again, this is one of those questions that is hard to answer. Much like "who was the best president". All the people named so far are true warriors and could easily carry the title of "Greatest Warrior of all Time". Men like General Patton, General Schwarzlopf, SFC Petry, General Eisenhower, the list is very long; could also carry this title based on their actions.

The biggest hurdle I see in coming up with an answer is how do you weigh in the different eras and how much combat has changed. Are the men of Pickett's brigade worthy of carrying the title after seeing the Union Army positioned behind walls and tree but still carried forwarded and attempted the charge in the fields of Harrisburg? What about the troops holding the line in WWI or the tunnel rats of Vietnam? Again, how do you do weigh the differences in the wars to determine?

Either way, this should be a fun discussion to follow and I look forward to see who else comes up.

I have thought about this and considered many, However the answer in my book is any man or woman willing to give up all to wear a uniform and fight for liberty and justice for the undeserving and Constitution haters and are believers in a Supreme Being. Do this everyday for little pay , no respect, no thank you, no assistance in times of need and continue to do it as a career or as a dedicated Patriot. Well they are the Greatest Warriors. Medals and acts of heroism are done by these every day sometimes two or tree times a day. They are embarrassed at being brought to the forefront for recognition and always say " Hey these Brothers and Sisters were right beside me, Some of them wrote the check in full I just wrote in to whom it may concern! My Duty To y Flag, Country, Constitution and Family. Nothing else nothing more nothing expected!

Carlos "White Feather" Hathcock. Credited with 93 confirmed kills in Vietnam. But also pulled seven Marines out of an Amtrak after it rolled over a landmine, despite second- and third-degree burns (having been in the Amtrak when it exploded). Said he was only doing what any other Marine would have done.

Had multiple sclerosis the entire time.
