I just found out that one of my sharpest E-6s will be asked to retire early. I remember the Force Shaping that went on a few years ago. I'm sure you might've seen that in 2006-2008. How are the latest set of reductions different? I'm hearing a lot of folks applying for VSP and then getting turned down. Any help in understanding the current AF reductions would be greatly appreciated. Response by Lt Col Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 15 at 2014 6:41 AM 2014-12-15T06:41:27-05:00 2014-12-15T06:41:27-05:00 Maj Walter Kilar 373514 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>So far the tally from this latest RIF in terms of people I know:<br />- 1 TSgt (my little brother) - involuntary separation at 16.5 years (right after the birth of his daughter)<br />- 1 Captain (my co-worker) - involuntary separation at 5 years.<br />- 3 Majors (one was CGO of the year before he PCS'd) - involuntary separation at 10+ years.
