Who else gave up cable/satellite television? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/who-else-gave-up-cable-satellite-television

Roughly 6 years ago I decided to give up satellite/cable television. To be honest I got tired of paying for so many channels while only watching 5-10 on a regular basis. At the time I was stationed in Virginia and spent about $40 on a digital TV antenna and have not looked back. I was able to get 12 channels in high definition at no cost.

I found that I wasn't sitting there cruising through the channels all day trying to find something to watch and if nothing was interesting I would find something productive to do around the house. Just curious to see who else decided to give up cable. I never watch anything live anymore unless it is a sports event. Why spend 30/60 minutes watching a show when I can watch 19/41 minutes?
- If was just me then I would go the 12 channel HD route but with two kids, a wife, and I; our preferences are all different. I like sports, history, sci fi, and action shows/channels. Wife likes throw back stuff like the Waltons, Love Boat, and Rescue 51. Don't know what kids like but it is not what wife/I like.
- If it was just TV then that would be one thing as well but sometimes there are cost savings in bundling Internet, phone, and TV. I can't talk specifics because my wife takes care of that. I have internet in my building provided so I use hulu and netflix. My last place I had full HD service and found that I was not watching TV as much to justify it. Then I canceled the HD. Then a few months later they raised the bill for basic cable almost making it as expensive as the HD service. Then I moved where I did not need the cable for the internet anymore which was the primary reason I got it in the first place. So I ditched it all together.
