RNC Chairman Reince Priebus has said in an open convention that it was possible someone other then the front runners may be chosen. He also said it would be someone who was at a time a candidate. Carson, Bush, Rubio all have not ended their campaigns they have just suspended them. So it is possible that one of them could be the nominee.

Some support for Trump is waning so I don't see him making it to the magic number 1,237. Currently Trump is at 758 delegates or 92% on target. Cruz has 533 delegates or 57% on target and Katich is at 144 or 20% on target.

Trump will fare better in states and congressional districts with small shares of college graduates. His path depends on a broad coalition of Southern, Midwestern and industrial Northeastern states.

Cruz’s path rely's heavily on evangelical voters in the Deep South, conservative sections of the Midwest, and Texas.

Katich’s path rely's more on liberal and highly educated swaths of New England, the Midwest and the West Coast.

So more and more likely there will be an open convention. In my opinion if it is not Cruz as the nominee it probably will be Bush, Rubio or Scott Walker in the second or third round of delegating votes.
