Is it enough to say "We hire Veterans"? What if ABC Company hires Veterans at a good rate but doesn't allow that Veteran the time he/she needs to attend their appointments at the VA? What if XYZ Company hires a bunch of Veterans but only for the lowest level of job within the company as possible keeping the Veteran from achieving his/her greatest potential. <div><br></div><div>With more and more companies jumping on the PR band wagon of "supporting troops"; I think it is important that we, their target audience, really pays attention to what they are doing compared to what they are saying. Actions will always speak louder than words and how we determine what company is truly "veteran friendly" needs to be driven on more than what company shows the most ads or hires the most Veterans. We are unlike most of our civilian counterparts, we have needs that most people do not nor understand. The ability for the company to handle those needs and set up the Veteran for the best possible transition is how I would measure their veteran-friendliness.</div>Response by SGT Ben Keen made Dec 31 at 2013 11:25 AM2013-12-31T11:25:26-05:002013-12-31T11:25:26-05:00LTC Jason Strickland30633<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Another terrific company that hires veterans is Union Pacific Railroad.
