Which spouse in a dual-military couple is supposed to live in the barracks when one is a geographic bachelor?

I am currently stationed in Korea while my husband I stationed in Washington. We both are dual military and do not have any kids. I am a Sergeant staying in the barracks while my husband in the barracks reviving BAH. So my question is my husband suppose to live in the barracks since I’m the highest ranking? Or the rank doesn’t matter?

Doesn’t matter. Is up to the local command policy; particularly since you are Overseas.

You are married but with no children. You are in korea in the barracks and he is in Washington... neither one of you should be receiving BAH at this point. You are both living in the barracks.

As to your question, does not matter. It is command policy for E-4 and under. Once you return, presumably to Washington, then you both move out of the barracks and then can receive BAH.

If you receive BAH you are not supposed to be in the barracks. Same for your husband. He should either be in the barracks with no BAH or have BAH and have his own place

If you did not PCS together to Korea, you are on an unaccompanied tour and are not authorized BAH. He is however if the command approves it, but then again, they will probably keep him in the barracks

Your husband should not be living in the barracks. Because you’re in Korea, you are required to live in the barracks and will not receive BAH. You should be receding family separation.

I posted an ALARACT MESSAGE a couple months ago in reference to geographic bachelors. If you are married, you will live off post. I’ll find the message and repost it.

Military Puts an End to Geographic Bachelor Program

The military has suspended the past practice of allowing married service members who choose to voluntarily live apart from their families to live in base barracks. Soldiers drawing a housing allowance who have dependents can no longer live in barracks.

How is your husband living in the barracks getting BAH? Of post living is at the discretion of the command, if I'm not mistaken. They can give you permission to live off post, whether you're married or not, and has nothing to do with your husband who lives stateside.
