Which "sport" in your opinion, should or should not be an Olympic event?

The question came to me as I scanned the channels and I came across what I thought to be some BBC thing only to find that it was the Olympic sport of
Equestrian Dressage. Beautiful horses and riding but a "sport"? There is more athleticism shown in ballroom dancing than the Dressage. Show of skill like archery, perhaps.

We have the X-Game for a reason. No reason to put skateboarding, motocross, or skydiving in the Olympics.

No joke, I actually heard on Bleacher Report radio the other day a serious discussion for when Xbox games would be in the Olympics. Apparently it's called EGames or something like that. anyone hear of this?

I'd say equestrian. The horses are doing all of the work. If nothing else, give the medals to the horses.

I would like to see the Olympics go back to amateur status, enough of the professional athletes taking over the Olympics...just don't care for the Olympics anymore.

For me, it's hard to say, MSG Private RallyPoint Member. It seems as though different "sports are added or deleted with some degree of regularity. I agree that some simply don't need to be there, but there are some that do belong that have either been eliminated or never included at all!

The "Olympics" fell into obscureness many years ago.....as far as Im concerned. I accept the folks that are the best at what they choose to do get together every few years and compete.. and that is all it is for the most part anymore, just a competition, a world wide X games. , no not even that as at least X games involves physicality and physical risk..

I mean 20 kilometer race walk and 50 kilometer race walk?? Team equestrian dressage? Individual equestrian dressage? Trampoline? Table tennis ?

At least they brought wrestling back

MSG Private RallyPoint Member I don't understand how they choose what sport gets into the Olympics either. You've mentioned dressage, as a dressage rider I can tell you its not as easy as it looks, what you see at this level is the best of the best in the world, it takes a lot of work for both the horse and the rider to get to that level. Imagine sitting on a 1200 lb beast of a horse and a movement as slight as clenching a butt cheek is a signal for the horse to perform a specific action, all the while not making any movement or giving any signals or commands that the judges can see.

Definition of Sport -- an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment. Dressage is one of three events in "Eventing" that the horse and riders compete in. 1) Cross country, 2)Show Jumping, and 3)Dressage. My wife would be more than happy to put you on a horse that has a proven record at state level competitions, with several different amateur riders, so you can show us how well you can do at something that does not require skill.

I bet I can get someone who has never fired an arrow on target at 70m before I can get someone though a dressage routine.
