Which is best? Mustang vs Camaro

In the military you always here the good natured heckling of which branch is better or which MOS is better, but lets figure out once and for all what is really the best according to RP. Mustang or Camaro?

Modern Camero all day! Why?? Because I'm a geek and love Bumblebee from Transformers!!!!
I've actually always wanted a Camero, I really like the solid look of the modern Camero as well as the I-Rod front.

Of the choices listed, I'd say classic Mustang... HOWEVER, my #1 muscle car choice (given an unlimited budget) would be a 1970 or 1971 Hemi 'Cuda. Oh yeah!!

If young 2LT's are trying to over come jealousy of having their path named after a car then trying to impose the ROTC or Service school route as being a "Camaro" vs the enlisted to OCS route as "Mustang" then those LT's need to meet a few enlisted Ford F150's.

All kidding aside, I would rather get a classic Mustang.

I am so conflicted, as an ardent fan of the late sixties Mustang, I find that I am very much drawn to the recent Mustang versions using some of the older body styles. I think that the two voting options from Camero can be removed entirely and add two other Mustang options.

Well if you are limiting it to just the two named then I vote classic Mustang (a fastback with suspension mods like the one McQueen drove in Bullitt).

My ideal car, however, is not American. For about the same price as a performance-model Mustang ($40K) I drive a Mercedes-Benz C300. Its actually my fourth C class Mercedes, and next year I'll probably trade it in on a new one.

Yes, muscle cars are faster, but when you drive 4,000-5,000 miles per month like I do, there is no substitute for a supportive and firm drivers seat in a tight-handling car.

My 67' Stang (289 ci-225 hp) Hammered all the Camero's it ever came up against. Some of them were around Victory Circle and the Playground at Aberdeen back in the day. No one was touching the Shelby Mustangs.

I later got a 69' Stang but by then the Camero's had it figured out but the Mustang looked better...... ;-)

I like ALL classic cars, they all made at least one car I would love to own. That being said, I am a Ford person, have been all my life. I have owned a 67 Fastback, 66 2+2, 87 GT, 96 GT and now an 01 Cobra. I loved the 66 and 67 but my current is the most fun to drive.
If I had all the cars, trucks, jeeps, motorcycles etc. I want I would need to have a warehouse for them all.

My first car was a 1967 Camaro, owned a 1986, 1987 and 1996 5.0 Mustangs also. But the pride and joy was the Challenger I had when joining the military in 1987 that I had to get rid of cause it was too hard to drag a muscle car around with you in the service. Still is!

The ZL1 Camaro is unstoppable. There is no doubt in my mind, it beats a Mustang on all fronts.

I had a '65 Mustang coupe back in '74 station at Holloman AFB, NM and it was cherry. It was tortoise paint, pony interior, 289 V8, wire-rim hubs, cruise-o-matic tranny. It's really hard to say which is best not having driven a Camero. Seems to me is order to make a valid decision you would of had to at least driven both.

Well me and my wife own a 2005 Mustang GT with the 4.6 liter in it with a bunch of bolt ons on it like a bbk 62mm throttle body on it and a off road x-pipe And a jlt cold air intake and a set of 4.10 gears in it and a tune in the computer from a sct tune which is only a 91 octane performance tune in it. We've also got 18x10s on the back and 18x9s on the front with nitto nt555's on them front and rear which is their drag radials. And we are going to take a vacation next year in October 2015 and take it to Brendspeed in Indiana and then we are going to have a Paxton novi 1200 supercharger put on it and the big brake kit by brembo and we are also going to have it lowered 1.5 to 2 inches. But I know what most of you are thinking that with every thing that's been done to it it has to get terrible gas mileage we'll your wrong if you think that because it gets 29 miles per gallon in the city and 18 on the highway which is better than it got when it was stock because it got 23/16 then. But then it only has 61000 miles on it and we've owned it since 2010 and are the second owed and we only gave 19995.00 for it when we bought it with only 9998 miles on it but anyway back to what all has been done to it as far as performance goodies that's all but we have some add ons done to the exterior like the factory hood scope and c-scoops in front of the rear fender flares and a chin spoiler on it and quarterglass loovers everything on the outside is black either gloss black (paint) or flat black wheels and chin spoiler even the mustang emblem in the grill is flat black along with the GT emblems on the sides of the car are flat black but all of the flat black on the car is plasti dip which is a plastic spray paint that they sale online or at Wal-Mart or Lowe's home emprovement stores and we can just peel it off if we get tired of it and we get thumbs up everywhere we go with the car and when we pull up to the stoplights here in town the people that don't know the car try to race it but they lose even the ZL-1 CAMAROS lose to it because it turn 12.54 in the quarter mile at 121 mph because of the rear gear that's in it. Those 4.10s really woke the car up But anyway if you have a Challenger or a Camaro and want to try it just let me know LOL... But I driven a Challenger R/T and a Camaro ZL-1 not to mention I've raced them at the track and have beat both of them by more than half a second over the camaro and about a whole second faster than the challenger so not only have I driven both of the cars but I've raced both of them at the track and beat both of the with a car that only makes 275 rwhp and 360 at the flywheel

I boycott your survey, MOPAR or No Car. That being said, the Camaro was pretty much a direct copy of the mustang, but an improvement for sure. A Yenko Camaro wouldn't break my heart.

Anyways, it normally depends on the person. As of 2016, Camaro 1SS has 455 hp/455 ft-lb and curbs at 3685lbs. The Mustang GT makes 435/400 and curbs at just over 100lbs more.

GM's LT1 6.2 V8 is a small block OHV, with only one camshaft to swap out if you want to gain some more power without spending a crazy amount of change.

Ford's Coyote 5.0 V8 is a DOHC, with four cams to swap out and is actually a heavier engine than the Camaro's LT1, and produces less power overall comparatively. However, the Coyote produces more power per cube due to having an advantage with the DOHC setup.

I personally prefer the new 6th gen Camaro over the 6th gen 'Stang... plus I'm not one for mowing down crowds.

But if we take it back to the classic times, I would take a 1965 Mustang over the later 69 Camaro. Everyone everywhere knows what a 64.5-68 Mustang looks like. Eleanor, oh Eleanor.
