I only mentioned Iraqis and Afghans, because that is my experience base, but feel free to mention non-combat experiences as well. I, personally, despised the Iraqis as they would act so hard, but were often scared kids. They were lazy and could care less about what happened to their country. I had respect for the Afghans because they did care and were willing to fight to get everyone out of their country. I can't say I really enjoyed working with any Middle Eastern Army. The Kurds weren't that bad but it is hard to work with an army that isn't any where near your level. The worst part is that most of them don't care nor want to be on your level. Both were extremely loyal and protective of their team leaders. they brought you into their homes and shared everything they had. Awesome times and good people. Always kept my eye on the ANA & ANP Afghanistan, always....but again, it seemed as the ANP were the ones that would really fight and could be depended on more than the Afghan Army, maybe because they were in sector more often or that they knew the people that lived in the villages and had something to fight for?

I worked with a group of Norwegians in RC North, they were very professional and brought capability to the fight. They were there to fight the insurgency and were willing to go on patrols....which was a rare thing for those in RC North......

The Brits fight their asses off, they especially did in RC SW. Every time we went into Lashkah Gah there was some excitement....every dang time. I remember

The Italians brought the heat in RC West in the Herat area....especially with the ANP folks.

The ROC Army (South Korea) are a very tough and fighting force....the KATUSA's - not so much. One couldn't do his job or lead his troops and only wanted me there to get him ice cream from the DFAC. Another was a lawyer who joined up again after the collapse of Saddam's regime to try to put his country back together. He want the best leader but he cared and tried hard. A third was a jundi before the war but got into the U.S. army run ocs in Iraq and became a great and highly respected leader. The last I will mention was a Kurdish national who was a one star then I worked with him. He was on par with some of our finest officers. It kind of ran the gamut.
