I was a student at the Air Defense Center, Fort Bliss Texas, enrolled in an electronics course in Building 2. Someone interrupted our class with the announcement and we were all shocked and then mad! School continued after a short information gathering break. Sad day for us all. I was a youngster ... in my first grade classroom. I remember that day - not vividly, but I do remember it. There was hushed conversation and we were sent home early, where we learned that the President had been killed. That was probably the earliest memory that I retain to this day. Sorta like when your first baby was born, your first car, 9/11, etc. I remember my parents and their friends talking about what they were doing when the attack on Pearl Harbor went down and when world war II was declared over. Could be a good or bad happening, the mind is a funny thing!
