Where is the prettiest place your military service has taken you?

I was reading a memoir recently of a B-29 navigator in the Pacific during WWII and his group was based on Tinian island in the middle of no where. I looked up the island (image attached) and it was beautiful. It reminded me of the US outposts on Bora Bora and I thought "how awesome would it have been to be stationed in such a pretty location?" When I was deployed my COP was near some ancient Persian ruins and that was one of the prettiest things I saw thanks to Uncle Sam.

I loved all the places I was stationed, but I would have to say the most beautiful was in the UK. My base was close to the Cotswalds, which is what most people think of when you hear “English countryside”.

Well let’s see ,Basic,AIT,Unit training Ft.Lewis Washington rainy,wet ,Vietnam ,rainy wet ,finally Ft.Polk Louisiana,rainy wet ,I’m sure all of these places were pretty if it ever stopped goddamn raining!

Dead Sea. Spent about two weeks working along side an Israeli EGOZ unit, and we had a cultural day at the Dead Sea. It was quite the experience.

American Samoa. The island is rugged and tropical, with beautiful blue water. It was a great experience to visit a spot on the globe I otherwise probably wouldn't visit.
