Golfers! In your experience, what military base or post has the best golf course? Consider in your assessment the course itself, the upkeep , the clubhouse, driving range, food selection, pro shop, staff, golf carts, fees, membership options. etc . Who has the best golf club on post?

The best golf courses I've ever played on is Kanehoe Bay (K-Bay) in Hawaii at the Kanehoe Bay Marine Corps Base and Turtle Bay which is home of the senior PGA Championships. They are awe inspiring and hard to the novice amateur. Happy Golfing!

You can get tickets for the Holiday Golf Club in FL from the NSA (Naval Support Activity Panama City) - I think if I remember it was $40 per person - which is a steal to play a PGA course.

Andrews Air Base & Ft Belvoir in the D.C. metro area are nice courses. Camp Lejeune is a lot of fun and great value. Eglin Air Base is good, too. But, for a true experience 'you must play K-Bay, HI. :) No kidding!

I've never been to Hawaii, but judging from TSgt's picture, I'd say Wright-Patterson AFB, where all the generals and retirees play! It is a beautiful course!!!

For my money, Hawaii is where it's at. Top three: K-Bay, Navy/Marine, and Hickam. Don't bother with the Army courses, they're not any better than anything CONUS.

I know the worst.....
Fort Irwin, CA (Mojave desert). The 29 Palms of the Army. It has 3 holes. It is brilliant green because they tied the sprinkler system to the water reclamation system. It is one smelly duker cooking away in 120+ degrees. No self-respecting officer would be caught dead teeing off there.

If you have trouble hitting prodigious drives, then the course at Camp Robinson in N. Little Rock is fantastic! 4 of the holes are built over the old airstrips; the grass was just allowed to grow over the tarmac! That low 'worm-burner' would just roll forever! 500-600 yd drives are nice!

Never having the pleasure of being stationed in HI, Bayonet GC and Blackhorse GC in Monterrey are nice, but I really enjoyed the beauty and layout of Sangnam GC in Seoul Korea. The course south of Riyadh is interesting to play as well if you don't mind all the sand traps.

Ft Lewis has a very nice course, I always liked Heidelburg Germanys course as well. Rammstien AFB was very good as well.

(1) Banyan Tree Golf Course on Kadena Air Base Okinawa. Awesome course, good food selection. Pro-shop has everything you need and more than willing to put you in the right set of clubs.They went as far as putting me in a set of Nippon steel shaft that are almost light as graphite. Above beyond staff.

(2) Gosser Memorial Golf Course on Misawa Air Base Japan. Great course, pictureress views. Great upkeep.

(3) Woodland Golf Course on Ramstein Air Base, Germany. Challenging course, nestled between tall trees. Great upkeep.

I really enjoyed golfing on the Robert Trent Jones designed course at Fort Riley, that is where I learned the game of golf. Fort Jackson has the best course (all 27 holes) I have ever played on a military installation. However, I have yet to golf at Fort Gordon where I am stationed now, which has been voted best DOD golf course.
