Where is Bo Bergdahl? How long has this case been pending? Where is the Army Leadership on this matter?

Let us not lose sight of this very important matter. While we are seeing copies of the Constitution waved in our face and a discussion is ensuing about Gold Star families lets not forget that there are other Gold Star families who are so because of this individual who decided that he needed to follow a different "drummer" on the battlefield. Lives were lost and Gold Star families created because of the actions of Bergdahl... and yet the Army leadership continues to play the fiddle... a tune called by the party in power to insure that nothing distracts from the message. The former Chairman of the JCS lectured all the retired Flag Officers this week about medaling in politics... doesn't the same standard apply to those still in uniform? The Army leadership needs to grow a pair... get their "Sierra" tightened up and move on with this mans Courts Marshall. That would also honor the Gold Star families that we are all so fervent about this week.

LTC King, this is just my guess. I'm guessing there is so much politics tied up in this case that we probably won't see it come to the courts for another couple of yrs. It's really sad though if you think about it, here we have one of the most despicable human beings to ever put a uniform on and so much evidence against him and the courts are tying it up. And that the Army leadership is letting it happen is even sadder.

There were no patrols sent out to specifically look for Bergdahl. Those patrols would have gone out anyway, despite Bergdahls disappearance. Where they told to keep an eye out for him? Sure, but he was not the sole reason they went out. His desertion did not cause anyone's death.

First off, the Pentagon could not attribute any casualties to the search for this individual. If there was even a shred of evidence linking the two, they would have used it to support Court Martial proceedings. They did not. Soldiers did die during timeframe, but the Army could not attribute that to Bergdahl's actions. I am not saying what he did was right by any means. He was wrong, no question about it. The Court Martial is proceeding IAW with the established rules. These things take time, and for right or wrong, the kid deserves a fair trial. In order to do that all rules and procedures must be followed to the letter. I just read yesterday that his lawyer filed a motion to dismiss based on the statements made by Senator McCain as being unlawful command influence. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.
