It had won the right to chose it's own direction and set a blue print for a society based on individual freedom and accomplishment. (No, the Declaration of Independence was not "just" a declaration of war - what a dumb thing to say - it was a declaration of rights. The Constitution wasn't "just" a law - another dumb thing to say - it was a blueprint for limited government leaving individuals and communities free to attains their own chosen destinies) It took a long time to clean out some of the crap of the old world - slavery and inequality between the sexes. And, there was more to be done, but we were headed in the right direction until progressivism took hold at the beginning of the Twentieth Century. It's growing interference with individual rights and liberties slowed down and then reversed our progress. (Isn't it ironic: Progressives destroy progress). So, no, we are no longer the greatest nation, but it has nothing to do with the progressive views of the video provided. Indeed, it is the opposite.Response by CPT Jack Durish made Jun 22 at 2014 11:53 AM2014-06-22T11:53:24-04:002014-06-22T11:53:24-04:00SSG William Patton160873

Our problems began when we elected Woodrow Wilson, an educator with no management experience, but a smart man none the less, or at least he thought so and so did his progressive cronies. His policies following WWI set the stage for WWII, but a silver lining appeared out of that calamity, we became the leader of the free world. All was well until we the people saw JFK murdered and his veep, LBJ, another progressive, take over and create the Great Society where people no longer had to work to survive, but just hold a hand out and the government would take care of them. This political strategy set the stage for the next sixty years of government growth and handouts until we have nearly as many people on the government teat as we have paying taxes. These give away programs destroy human ambition and initiative, destroy the nuclear family, and eventually create a dependent underclass with political clout, which is what we are dealing with today. I do not think it is too late to reverse the damage done by progressives, but we are getting close to the point of no return. The November elections of 2014 are critical to taking back our nation and instilling the mores and values that made us great. I hope those who really are get out a vote for the candidate who will help us get America back.Response by SSG William Patton made Jun 22 at 2014 2:33 PM2014-06-22T14:33:11-04:002014-06-22T14:33:11-04:00SGT Robert Hawks160907

When it comes to the military we are by far the most powerful nation on earth still. When it comes to civilian population we are lagging behind. We have large debt we do not have enough jobs and our leaders are to worried about every country in the world but their own. First the war in Vietnam was declared to be the turning point of American greatness, then it was the oil crisis and recession of the mid-seventies, then it was the Iran hostage crisis, followed by Reagonomics and the rise of Japan. Desert Storm and the fall of the Soviet Union actually shut people up for a little while but only for a few years. Now 9/11, Iraq, Afghanistan, and the world financial crisis has all of them at it again; oh, and let's not forget that China and India will soon rise up and dominate us all.

There is just one problem with ALL of these Chicken Little predictions . . . they are complete BS and unsupported by the facts. We have the preeminent military on the planet. Our economy is more than double India and China combined and equivalent to all 27 members of the EU combined.

I like the quote by former British Prime Minister Tony Blair when he was being grilled over his support of the United States:
"A simple way to take measure of a country is to look at how many want in and how many want out."
Even the worst detractors among our citizenry are unwilling to pack up and move out.

And I loved the video, MAJ Burns.
