I currently reside in the Great Compile. I understand that the Highlands of Gentoo hold their Royal Regatta in the Chakra Bay annually. Gentoo President Arbiento awards the regatta winner with four all paid expense vacations to the Firefox os Federation. This is great news since the Slackware Hordes were decimated by the Rogue State of Mint's Navy for ill conceived and unfair trade practices that reflected a bait and switch custom and high tariffs on traditional communication systems.

I started with Slackware back in the mid-90s (remember downloading multiple floppy "images" and swapping disks during installation?), migrated to Ubuntu for 10-ish years, and am now using Debian. It all works, with some distros having nicer "pre-packaged" apps or nicer/easier to use "base" installations.

At the time, Slackware had a more familiar file system layout (very similar to the Unix world I grew up in), but now Debian seems to be a better overall system for handling the tasks I need and supporting the apps and hardware I use.
