Where do you get your news from?

I get 90% of my news from the internet. I use Google News, Drudge, and if I'm bored Fox, but I like the internet because I can cross reference news on different sights to see if i can decipher the truth.

Why do you use your method of choice?

I'm really enjoying the new Army Times Early Bird Brief for military related news and commentary. It always captures stories that are easily missed by Google News.

Actually as many sources as I can if it's a story that I'm truly interested in... no single source seems capable of presenting a story without any spin.
The more sources you use, the better your chances of deciphering the truth.
Damn shame it's come to this though.

I'm a fan of Fox News on cable and on the internet. I realize that Fox puts a conservative spin on their stories, but I'm okay with that. All media outlets put their own spin on news reports, and I can't stomach some of the liberal garbage produced by MSNBC and similar networks.

Typically you will find CNN or Fox (depending on my mood), one of the local newsfeeds, BBC and Aljazeera English up on my computer. I prefer to get my news from multiple perspectives.

Ok this is a good question. I would agree with you on sources of news information, but in my personal life I throw TV news and print in as well if you really want to get the true (or as close as you can get)a person really needs to use multiple sources. There are many different sources that report the same story but tell it a different way. Always remember the truth is in the middle somewhere never take the first opinion as total truth and fact always verify.

I have a list of 20-30 or so news websites and a news aggregates in my bookmarks that I read each day. I try to look for sites that aren't skewed and rely on data vs political affiliation, but I also read both the far right (Newsmax, Breitbart) and the far left (Kos, TPM) just to see what all sides are saying. For economics, I find Barry Ritholtz and Dean Baker to be the most data driven. For medical/healthcare, I like "The Incidental Economist".

Sources like Fox, CNN, MSNBC aren't news sources. Their objective is to get viewers, not report news.

Before I forget - Twitter is actually one of the best news sources around (although generally blocked on government computers). I follow around 150 different news and scientific groups and I get constant updates. I don't really care about "tweeting" myself, but there's a wealth of information there if you set it up right. I basically use it as an information feed.

I check a lot of websites to try to even the spin that many networks put on their news. In college I used to read the three different newspapers that our college purchased every day.

Being in Korea and living off post, there really isn't a whole lot of English speaking stations. So, most of my news comes from BBC or the internet. I mainly search North Korea news, so I can see what the crazy man up North is up to. Ukraine, so I can see what old Putin is cooking up, and US News to see what's happening half way around the world.

I watch my local news every morning because I like to know what is going on in my neck of the woods. If I want national/world news, I usually check the internet after finding out by word of mouth or hearing/reading of something.

Most of my news that I read and collect now is a mixture of The Blaze, CNN & Fox News. I can usually decipher what is what from there and make my own judgement call. I'm a bigger fan of The Blaze then the other two though. I feel it's a better mixture of the left and rights agenda

Mostly internet, but if I HAVE to watch it on TV, then my preference is BBC. They don't have a stake in our news, so it's mostly just a recitation of facts with little enthusiasm from the anchor, which is great. Boring news means they aren't trying to entertain you.

Internet for me, for the same reasons you state. Plus the ability to go in depth & not have to try to filter out over the "who can yell louder" factor.

I will occasionally (maybe once a week) watch a local newscast, other than that, I haven't watched "news" on either a national network or cable for at least 2 years (I may go to their websites, but for text, not video). I have been much calmer over the last 2 years....

I don't think I place my trust in any one media source wholeheartedly. I would prefer to do my own research & form my own opinion - so it ends up I manage to take a few grains of salt from all the different sources, filter that, & hopefully what I have left is somewhat close to the truth in the end.

Various sources, sometimes I will see and article on Yahoo (I hate Yahoo news) and I will research it, other times the Huffington Post, other times, D&B... But actually I usually like the BBC when it comes American politics, a little less slanted than FOX or CNN or whatever... But it really depends on the topic. I like to research and learn more that just what is reported anyway.

I recently read somewhere that an alarming percentage of people get their news exclusively from Facebook. I forget the exact figure, but I want to say that it was something like 48%. That worries me.

I go after several sources. I read several different Newspapers every morning. Morning time is Good Morning America, and evening News is NBC Evening News with Brian Williams. I follow all the major News sources on various social media outlets.

Stopped the paper about 9 months ago, the yahoo news was saying everything that was in my paper and then the classifieds really don't exist anymore with craigslist. The grapevine works great to, but then Facebook believes it has the market cornered there too!

Related to the internet, I use a phone app. for the Associated Press because it is a wire source that I find it easy to read quick fact updates.

I also typically listen to the NPR morning report on the radio during my commute to work.

Fox News is what the television is tuned to 70% of the time, but it's usually only on for Red Eye, Special Report, and the Saturday morning Business Block. I listen to Limbaugh infrequently, and Levin regularly--depends when I'm in the car. Sunday morning I watch Meet the Press, now that David Gregory is gone, until its over or until it makes me yell at the TV, whichever is first, then switch to Face the Nation, then to PBS for the McLaughlin Group, when it's on. (Then to NFL on FOX during football season.)

But my news is mostly got by reading online. I check Bad Blue, Drudge, and Inside Automotive aggregators regularly and that takes me all over the place. My job has me online all day so I troll my Facebook newsfeed for anything interesting as well.

I get my news from multiple sources and topics that pique my interest I will research and draw my own conclusion. All stories have at least three sides the liberal, the conservative, and the truth which very seldom is told.

I go to Daily Mail. Sure a lot of their articles are the typical celebrity crap but they also report on the good news. They are a better source than FOX anyway.

I think the question (or at least the choices offered) is poorly stated. For example, I read the newspaper (but I do so via the internet). The best way for me to answer (which doesn't help your survey results) is to say that I use multiple sources for my news and I tend to do my due diligence with stories of interest by fact-checking and getting opposing viewpoints. I know people who only get their news from CNN or FOX or The Washington Post . . . to me, that only gives you CNN's or FOX's or The Washington Post's perspective (and political slant).

Online. I check out multiple news and social media outlets for my local and international news. Newspapers and watching the news on TV in my opinion is a lost and outdated action. Social and news media outlets are far to easy access with smart phones, tablets and laptops that many people rather have the instantaneous access to news when it happens.

I'll be the first to say I don't watch TV regularly. I haven't since 2007. I use RSS Feeds, Facebook posts, e-mail updates, and being the lost one in conversations to stay up to date on topics I care about. I hate worthless snail mail.

I like to look at both CNN, Fox, then research the whole media and stories through any documents if any are found by local news. Then compare to Drudge Report, Gerald Celente, Alex Jones then make up my own mind to see what is the meat of it. I know I listen to a bunch of conspiracy stuff, But I use to work for the government and I don't trust it ever. lol! IF someone really trusted the government then we are in deep over our heads with caca.
