Where do you get accurate information about events overseas?

My son always told me to go to BBC's and Al Jazeera's websites if I want the "non-politicized" truth. They're my go-to. I can't ask my son, he's deployed. And as I am no longer an active duty member of the military, I have no contacts. Any suggestions?

What information, exactly, are you trying to get? There is all kinds of news sources. For overseas, I like to use Stars and Stripes. They have a website.

BBC and Al Jazeera are both legitimate news organizations and you should be able to collect news from either.

However, don't be fooled by thinking that a media organization is "non-politicized". All media organizations, foreign and domestic, are businesses and ultimately trying to make money. They will lean in one direction or the other to appeal to a greater target audience, which translates to more money.

I would say your best bet is to do some window shopping on YouTube Channels that offer "non-biased" reporting. One channel in mind is the "PhillyD Show" but he mainly reports on hot button stuff that is currently in the media without the dramatic spin of regular news outlets. I cant point you to a specific channel in regards to "Overseas news", but if its a thing, it will definitely have a YouTube channel.

Aforementioned sources are terrific. I would recommend Open Source Center as well. It is a CAC-accessed government site that has three-letter and other official news releases and assessments about specific areas tailored to your interest.
