Where do you call home and why? Is this where your family has lived for generations, or did you find your place traveling via the military?

Scottsdale, AZ by way of NJ via parental units. Have also lived in Buffalo, NY - Cary, NC - Colorado Springs, CO. Have been stationed in Great Lakes, IL - Dam Neck, VA - Thule, Greenland and San Diego, CA.

Lebanon, PA. I was stationed at Fort Indiantown Gap, Annville, PA,for 6 years, which is right up the road and Headquarters of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard and Air National Guard. I was at Letterkenny Army Depot for a year and I am finally getting out all together. Hopefully and finally going to be Moving to the Bozeman, Montana area within the next year to finish college and become a permanent resident of Montana.

I grew up in PA. Have lived in GA,VA,MA,NE,IA,MN,CA,MO,TX,IL,AZ,KS, and CO.
Been in all 50.

I now live in IA near a military base (for retirement benefits) and a train station for travel.

I am from central NJ originally but lived in FL before joining the Army. I continue to live in the Fort Stewart area while I finish college in SE GEorgia.

I plan to stay in GA and move north of Atlanta.

Home is NC being that is where my mom and dad live now! And when I go home on leave that is where I go. But dad was USMC so home was everywhere! He just happen to retire in NC and that is where I finished high school.

Columbus Georgia has been my "home" for over 30 years. I haven't been back in over 18 years. I live in Oregon but this is not home to me. How did I settle on Columbus GA? I went to visit family and friends that I met while my father was serving and like it. Wish I was there now.

Belleville IL. Air Force sent me to Scott AFB twice so it had to be home. I've been as far north, east, west, and south as you can go in the USA. Learned to like the Midwest after we lived here for 10 years. Nearby St Louis provides professional sports, entertainment, museums, and one of the best zoos in the U.S. Also lots of employment opportunities.

Home is Kempner TX.. why, ?? we found after living here 9 years, it was overall pretty good to us and supported our life style. So we stayed after i retired Dec 2013.

Home started in central CA, born and raised.. then Army life and travels for 29 years.

I call Rapid City, SD home since my grandmother lives there and my parent settled there when my dad retired from the Air Force. I also get the no state income tax benefits while I lam stationed in Kansas.

I grew up in rural Oregon with a pop. of 350. I miss it, but its not "home" anymore. I am more of a nomad now. Everytime I get settled somewhere, its time fore me to move. I have been living about 30 minutes outside Phily for about 2 years now, and I am ready to go.

Corpus Christi, TX is where I *currently* call home.

I was born in Oakland, CA, raised in Arlington, WA, stationed in several places, and met my wife in Dallas while stationed in Ft. Hood. Lived in Arlington, TX for a while after I ETSd, then moved to Austin, TX. Stayed there for 14 years, then moved to Raleigh, NC for a job opportunity. Stayed there for 4 years, then back to TX, landing in Corpus Christi. No idea where's next.

Being a military kid, I didn't know what home truly was. When i entered the Air Force, I spent the first 8 years of service in Minot North Dakota. The people I worked with were amazing and that made the environment easy to endure. I have now lived in Abilene Texas for the last 5 years. It seems as though I am in the same mindset as I was those many years ago at Minot. The people are fantastic and the location is pretty good too. Maybe it's because I'm older, or maybe it's because I adapt easy? But I have found that no matter where I'm at...I feel at home.

I recently left the Army and now call South Carolina home. I was stationed at Ft. Jackson for a while and really loved the area. My husband also calls South Carolina home, I am originally from Ohio. I think this place is beautiful!

Good question, SPC Ryan D.. For me it's the hometown (small upstate NY town) where I grew up, and where my maternal grandfather settled when he moved here from Poland. That will always be home for me, even though I now live in the Baltimore area.

North Dakota forever. My family on my dad's side has lived there for decades, back into the 1800s I would imagine. Sure it gets miserably cold through the winter but it's where my friends and family live and I love the state no matter what.

I always thought that home is where I hang my hat. I knew it will be only a couple years - maybe only a year. That's ok. Moving is a good thing. I like the experiences of living in different parts of the country/world.

In thinking about a permanent home - I vote (absentee) in Phoenix, AZ but I always considered Tucson to be "home" because that's where I earned my commission. Now that I am stationed 90 minutes away from Tucson, I have been able to visit it again and I am greatly disappointed. I am fairly certain that Tucson does not lie in my future anymore. So once I retire from the military, I will have two or three primary locations in mind and look for jobs in those areas. It will either be somewhere I've been (Honolulu) or I will check out the area primary to making a huge life decision.

Well, for the last 18 years it has been Washington State since I met a lady online through Match.com and moved up here and married her. Most of my life I never lived in one house and often city for more than 4 years at a time even though I was out of the service. I had lived in 8 different homes before I was 18. It is really freaky to be in one place for so long but I'm settling down to it, slowly. Many Navy retire here since there are a couple of duty stations in the ports. Most of the State is trees with only 6.5 million people compared to 10-13 million in Los Angeles, CA. Lots of pretty mountains and of course cleaning rain keeps us sparkling clean! lol

My house which My wife and I bought 38 years ago is located approx 4 miles from My parents home in the same town of Millis, MA where I grew up. My dad is 91 and My Mom 89 and both are still doing fine and in good health. My wife's late parents lived approx 2 miles away in the neighboring town of Sherborn, MA where I had worked as a Police Officer, My brother and sister both live within 3 miles of Me. I have an Aunt, Uncle and cousins that all live nearby and two of My children live within 20 minutes drive from here. My third son live within our home with His wife and daughter. I have three Grandchildren close by. Members of My family have lived in Massachusetts from 1640 up to the present day. Shown here are two pictures of My house and yard.
