Little did I know that that wasn't an actual option and when it all boiled down our only options in weather were the Hub bases, Scott, Barksdale, Davis-Monthan and Shaw. I was blessed to spend 12.5 years of my career doing tours overseas in Korea, Crete Greece, Philippines, Germany, and Guam. Of course every base I was stationed at in my whole career has been closed except for three, but that's the way it goes. It was an unbelievable ride. When the dust settled, we all got choice assignments. I got Hawaii. Ended up meeting my wife there & our daughter was born there. Little did I know I'd be wearing the SAME damn uniforms they did, to the same damn standards they had, and we'd all be standing around forf*cking ever. The only way to tell us apart was the fact that the non TOG MP's wore badges on their Blues with the White MP service cap, and instead of the dress belt, we wore shined leather gear for our 92FS, cuff holders, and magazine holders. Later on my dream unit was WHCA, but fate intervened and I was destined to be part of the Big Red One. To this day I love me some Riley (minus the weather, Ogden, Junction City, and Rally Point on post), and if I could go back in, I'd haul my fat a** to riley and be happier than a fat kid with cake....until the first division run. Those suck running on Custer Hill, but it adds to the suckage period.
