Before I joined I tried doing research but there’s less than 300 active duty 12M’s in the Army last time I heard and I didn’t really get any valuable information until I got to 12M AIT. The MOS is very small and thus hard to get into. There are more National Guard and Reserve positions for our MOS. <br />Honestly, if you want to be a firefighter, Air Force has far more opportunities for firefighters. It&#39;s very tough to be a 12M as active duty, because some units don&#39;t even work at the fire stations. It&#39;s all dependant on what post you go to. <br />I&#39;ve been fortunate to always be part of a unit that worked with the fire department on post. Small MOS with limited duty stations but great training opportunities that transfer to the civilian world when you get out. 12M is not an MOS that you can make a career out of in the Army but definitely has its benefits when you get out becoming a Federal or Civilian firefighter.
