I was doing some research on the firefighter MOS and so far most, if not all, said that it’s a very rare MOS to be handed and it’s not common for active duty military to get granted this job. Is this accurate?Where can I get good information on the MOS 12M?2020-02-11T15:24:48-05:00Ashley Nicole5547447<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I have not asked my recruiter about this yet. There’s not a lot of info posted out there. Before I joined I tried doing research but there’s less than 300 active duty 12M’s in the Army last time I heard and I didn’t really get any valuable information until I got to 12M AIT.Response by SPC Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 11 at 2020 3:29 PM2020-02-11T15:29:12-05:002020-02-11T15:29:12-05:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member5547640<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I am an active duty firefighter. The MOS is very small and thus hard to get into. There are more National Guard and Reserve positions for our MOS. <br />Honestly, if you want to be a firefighter, Air Force has far more opportunities for firefighters. It's very tough to be a 12M as active duty, because some units don't even work at the fire stations. It's all dependant on what post you go to. <br />I've been fortunate to always be part of a unit that worked with the fire department on post.Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 11 at 2020 4:25 PM2020-02-11T16:25:05-05:002020-02-11T16:25:05-05:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member5548256<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Smaller MOS=harder career progression.Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 11 at 2020 7:25 PM2020-02-11T19:25:13-05:002020-02-11T19:25:13-05:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member5549099<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Very, very small MOS, probably zero chance of this class seat popping upResponse by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 12 at 2020 12:51 AM2020-02-12T00:51:40-05:002020-02-12T00:51:40-05:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member5596935<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I am a current firefighter in the army. Small MOS with limited duty stations but great training opportunities that transfer to the civilian world when you get out. 12M is not an MOS that you can make a career out of in the Army but definitely has its benefits when you get out becoming a Federal or Civilian firefighter. Have to stay on your recruiter.Response by CPL Joseph Viola made Dec 28 at 2020 4:51 PM2020-12-28T16:51:44-05:002020-12-28T16:51:44-05:002020-02-11T15:24:48-05:00
