So, option three is true, but doesn't answer the question posed so isn't really an option for me. I think that the people are more fearful of the government than the government is of the people. I say the people are a 6-7 in fearing the government, whereas the government is a straight 0 in fearing the people.

I do not think, with informed, educated voters, there is fear on either side. As to option 3, that is completely false. The media promotes what ever generates profit for themselves.

People do tend to fear the Government and abuse of power or excessive regulation. The press also contributes more than their share to promote the abuses like somehow they are correct even when they are not. What brings things under control when people instead of accepting what is wrong stand up for themselves to retain their rights. What Thomas Jefferson said applies just as strongly now as it did then and unless His warning is heeded Governnemt will get out of control.

Hmmm. Let's suppose that the 2A is eroded further and gun and ammo sales are severely restricted. Then those of us who oppose these measures are further demonized by liberal powers via the mass media. We soon have to go underground into a very real resistance force, albeit splintered. To join this resistance one would run the risk of sacrificing and losing everything. So did the Sons of Liberty. The thing that we need to do is make sure that the folks we elect understand that as American Patriots we will not tolerate them not doing their job, not limiting our rights, and exempting themselves from the laws that they impose upon us! Keep calling and emailing them as you see fit, and VOTE. Don't avoid politics, you nation needs your input, your opinion, and your votes.

It is of my belief that we are at the stage of ALL THREE options combined. Here is my breakdown:

Option 1) This needs to be expanded to state "the government fears the EDUCATED people." A flock of sheep will go where it is guided and follow what is presented. But a group of people that are educated and well informed (hard to do nowadays en masse) ask questions and challenge the powers that be. But an uneducated people are easily controlled. This leads to....

Option 2) Since the majority of people want to just get on with their lives and be left alone (nothing wrong with that)....many simply go with the flow and try to not buck the system. This in turn, causes people to be complicit with whatever crazy law is passed, with what the general mass want, to not be seen as a hater (of anything), to not question the powers. Which leads to....

Option 3) Fake news, social media, and warped agendas rule the world now. For an example, the "OK" hand gesture is now being considered a hate symbol even though it was admitted as a viral troll campaign aimed at making liberals and the media look gullible. It worked. Win for them. The sad reality is now that there are hate groups adopting the gesture as part of their culture. And be prepared to be tarred and feathered for expressing your thoughts and opinions that differ from the social norm. This ranges from difference in gender (I think the last count was 67 different accepted genders) to the idea if someone kneeling during the Anthem is disrespectful or not.

So....if you speak your mind and express your opinion, even when it differs from someone else, you can be branded as a Hater and quite possibly a racist. Someone kneels during the anthem, they are considered a Commie/Terrorist Lover even though if you look at the basic premise of it they are exercising their 1st Amendment Right. Babies need to eat but burn the Mother at the stake for breastfeeding her baby in public (even if she covers up). Next time I'm at a diner and I see you eat....I'm going to ask you to leave because watching you eat makes me sick and you should only do that in the privacy of your own home. See how stupid that sounds? So many other examples to use for this.

So, in the end, all three options you posted are actually intertwined into one option. The way I see it, the United States, and the world as a whole, is becoming two different movies wrapped into one package: Idiocracy and Demolition Man. Think about that for a moment, and you will see that I'm right. And....if you don't agree with me, then you are a racist. Again, see how stupid that sounds?

Borderline Tyranny or maybe even over the line as too many are afraid the Government will cut out or somehow stop their "freebies" and "entitlements" thus they blindly continue to follow like the good little sheeple they are !
