Where are the best places to volunteer around Fort Bragg?

I am looking for anywhere to donate some spare time. I am an EMT-B so maybe the local VA clinic could use me in some capacity. Give me any ideas you have. I don't mind using my occupational skills to volunteer also. I could do something in a research role if that was what was required. I am just not too volunteer savvy around here.

I remember reading about changes to the requirements to the MOVSM. However, the BOSS President and your battalion's family readiness officer should be able to help you out.

Soldiers against drunk driving or volunteers with the BOSS program are good ways to go.

I was a clinic NCOIC at WAMC. You can always volunteer thru WAMC. Also, if you have not already done so go the the hospital education center and get your EMT retroprosity packet done for you state license. You can also do some volunteer shifts with ft Bragg EMS

Like you seen in your responses you have a lot of options. This not a discussion to only have on RP but also with both your Chain of Command and NCO Support Channel. Inform them of your want to volunteer, they may even have other options for you not noted here. It could be considered "MOONLIGHTING", but if they are informed you're good. I let my Soldiers volunteer out here in Germany so I don't think that your leadership would have any issues.

SPC Coronado, I feel you have received plenty of good recommendations with this post and surly you will find a great opportunity through BOSS, WAMC, Chapel, ACS, ect. The only concern that I will express is that if you do choose something in a research capacity utilizing your MOS skills be sure that you understand the USASOC IO policy as well as EO 12333 and DOD Directive 5240.1-r. With your job as I'm sure you already know it can be very easy to cross the line between ok and not ok mostly because those lines are blurred. Again, if you choose that path I would run it by the Intelligence Oversight Manager to ensure your activities are authorized.

I think the suggestion of the Fire Dept is great. Cape Fear Hospital and VA if they could use you in your capacity. Use the volunteering effort as a stepping stone to a career change when the time comes.

Lots of great suggestions. Normally the installation volunteer coordination -or however Bragg calls it- at ACS has a list of different organization and will help you get credit for your volunteer work and how to integrate it on a resume for your after the army life.
