Some bases came up with ideas on how to safely increase the number of armed individuals however I don't know if they implemented any. Col Benson who used to be here and is now Wing Commander at Dyess AFB did implement a policy allowing people to concealed carry in vehicles on base which is nice for those who live off base and thus have to travel through possibly(probably) unprotected areas to get to work and back.
