When will the national Military Police Concealed Weapons Permit (HR 218) go into effect?

Get it as soon as you can before the powers that be in the WH and Congress take it away from you, it is one of the best things for any former MP or retired MP/LEO to have, it cuts through all the red tape and is a better way to protect you and your family with your own personal training and knowledge.

Well there is still not a 50 state conceal carry permit. It sounds like this will cut a lot of red tape to get a permit in each state. That being said conceal carry permits vary state to state especially reciprocity. I.E. my Idaho permit is good in Texas although not Washington or Oregon. Some states like California even if LOE you have to still be a resident of that state to get a permit. So what you need to do is look up each states said of conceal carry laws. Some are easier than others, i.e. here in Idaho I just presented a copy of my DD214 waited my 30 or so days and that was it (plus fee). It may be worth looking into that link, if it makes it easier to obtain a CWP in more stringent states.

The problem is, that Congress might have to also add Federal Installations to the list of places where MPs and or CID might carry concealed, unless I missed it when I read it.

If I'm right, the LEOSA is still flawed, since even the local PD in Puerto Rico has to check their weapons at the door of military installations.

DoDi 5525.12 has been updated and the Army is working to have it's policy signed by the end of the year and use the USAF contract for credentials.

Here is the Air Force update:

Air Force Installation Contracting Agency (AFICA), Wright Patterson AFB, OH, has selected a contractor to issue LEOSA credentials to past/present AF law enforcement personnel. Congratulations to Defense Consulting Services (DCS) on their selection. The AFSFC and DCS staffs will now finalize the process of developing the on-line application process and credential. We will begin beta testing of this process in the very near future and hope to have examples of what our credential will look like shortly. I continue to ask for your patience as we work diligently to move this process forward. Our estimated start date for credential issuance remains 1 Sep 14 with the cost of a 926B credential at $140 and the cost of a 926C credential at $160 which will be valid for 5 years.

Should uniformed military be allowed to conceal carry any were in the U.S. with a CAC as a license due to increased threats to military personnel?

I contacted the Illinois State police regarding this issue. The response was to obtain certification as a retired law enforcement to carry. Of course they were not specific on what certification.

They are doing Bata testing at Fort Hood now. It won't be long now.

The Airforce has alowed base commanders to allow MPs to carry on/off duty with these creds and several bases alow it.

It is in effect right now under LEOSA. All military police are considered federal law enforcement officers under HR 218. As long as they pay for the permit, and carry that permit on them, they can conceal carry. On military installations, the wing commander has approval authority. Air Force Brigadier General Jamerson (top cop) came to FE Warren AFB a few years ago and briefed us about the LEOSA program.
