When the National Guard and other military members are deployed to guard our Southern border, what kind of Rules of Engagement will apply to this situation? They surely will not be armed with just baseball bats???

I've met a few MP's who have been part of the border mission in the past. It was my understanding that they shadowed Border Patrol, scouted out the land, and radioed in anything they saw. They were unarmed, not even a pistol.

The most restrictive ROE you can imagine. If the American media can forgive an illegal alien killing an attractive, female US citizen in San Francisco, they will not even blink if one kills a US soldier. If a soldier ever killed an illegal alien, however, the story would go on for months. It would be the largest miscarriage of justice the US has ever seen, and the story would include pictures of the Statue of Liberty crying bloody tears.

First of all, Governors have the authority in their state to call out the National Guard. Guidelines will be established for rules of engagement. Utilization of any military other than the National Guard is strictly prohibited by law unless meeting criteria of 18 U.S.C.
IAW Federal Law, 10 U.S.C./375 Restriction on direct participation by military personnel The Secretary of Defense shall prescribe such regulations as may be necessary to ensure that any activity (including the provision of any equipment or facility or the assignment or detail of any personnel) under this chapter does not include or permit direct participation by a member of the Army, Navy, Air force, or Marine Corps in a search, seizure, arrest, or other similar activity unless participation in such activity by such member is otherwise authorized by law.
Federal law, 18 U.S.C./1385. Use of Army and Air Force as a posse comitatus Whoever, except in cases and under circumstances expressly authorized by the Constitution or Act of Congress, willfully uses any part of the Army or the Air Force as a posse comitatus or otherwise to execute the laws shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than two years or both.

1. Who the hell knows. 2. After the politicians get thru mucking it up, and the Staff try to modify it, it is bound to be screwy. You just drive on and do the best you can. It's tougher in our own lands, because we have no right to arrest anyone- just detain for law enforcement.

I don't know what the ROE will be now, but when we worked on the fence in the 90's in Arizona and again on the bridge site at Eagle Pass in Texas we were to observe and report and let the Border Patrol handle apprehensions ( they did an excellent job ). Other EOF procedures are something I prefer not to discuss. Why let potential bad guys know when, if, why and with what they will be engaged. Keep 'em guessing.

Someone asked who will pay the Guard for their time on active duty guarding the border? Do state's pay or does it come from the feds? Obviously it is not going to be cheep. Maybe the US should stick to a parade in DC.

I dont see maddog sending people into harms way unarmed, in the past troops have been used as deterrents however the Cartels have better weapons than the police and I would say Trump will make a large statement. most likely you will see video feeds on his twitter of how bad it actually is

I’m sure it’s a cake job for us. Border patrol has the power so I think the NG is more or less show of force
