When you extend you can pick a unit that is closer to home.Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 6 at 2020 6:54 PM2020-12-06T18:54:51-05:002020-12-06T18:54:51-05:00Cpl Vic Burk6557512<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>In the Marines you submit a re-up package and you could request MOS reassignment, schools and duty station and if an E4 or below often a promotion. Whether they still do all this today, I don't know. I guess it depends on your record and how much they want to retain you.Response by Cpl Vic Burk made Dec 6 at 2020 7:14 PM2020-12-06T19:14:34-05:002020-12-06T19:14:34-05:00CW2 Private RallyPoint Member6569841<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>There is always the possibility of negotiating unit locations and MOS reclass. When I extended in 2014, I extended into a signal company as an E5 with a new MOS. It took a while for them to send me to school but I eventually became MOSQ for 25B. Research unit vacancies near your home, reach out to people in the unit and try to get a slot that you can be assigned to, extend and go to school. Don't let people discourage you. Get what you want. Best of luck to you.Response by CW2 Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 10 at 2020 9:50 PM2020-12-10T21:50:48-05:002020-12-10T21:50:48-05:002020-12-06T17:57:06-05:00
