When on TDY orders in the Reserve and your orders start the first of the month, do you get paid that day too?

About to go to Reclass school, orders start on the 1st, do I get paid the 1st and the 15th? Just trying to get financial things squared away for my family before I leave.

Usually have to wait for this to be processed, and then get paid. The government can be awful about this; they depend on you to fund your TDY at first. Do you have a government credit card? This will help with the expenses.

If your orders are 15-29 days you will get paid a couple of days prior to the end of the course. Your unit should certify them day 1 of order start date. If your orders are 8 days or less they can not be certified for pay until the end of the orders and usually paid 7-10 days after.

BLUF: Expect no money from the Army until you complete the school.

Your pay person should input the orders for pay on the 1st day - I used to wait till about day 3 to make sure the Soldier got there and wasn't released for any reason. You'll actually get paid the closest pay day to the end of the orders one lump sum. It may be right before or right after graduation depending on the days.

When you return, it's your responsibility to turn in a signed set of the same orders to your pay person for "certification" which closes the loop out.
