A complete system of medical doctors and supporting services that pretty much ignore or shove chiropractic, acupuncture, etc. aside is still in charge and for the most part don't care about integrating these services into a larger comprehensive treatment strategy. So when the medical schools include curriculum on incorporating these services will be when the "when" becomes more viable. I would have thought that when insurance more universally covered these services, the wall would come down.

Some people swear by, some swear at, and others, like me, are neutral about chiropractic services. I think for me it has more to do with how I felt after a long series of treatment recovering from an injury. How much it helped, I couldn't say. Certainly didn't hurt. But then again results vary with traditional medical services as well.

Interesting thing but as I've aged but still referee soccer, a good athletic trainer, massage therapist, etc. are great at keeping the hamstrings loose and other issues that would be of benefit to younger Mil types. Like chiropractic services, not needing drugs and quicker recovery on a variety of issues is worthwhile. I gathered those were the first chiros used in any military force, whether federal, or state. I have immense regard for good chiros, my wife has gone to one since 2001 for a work injury , trust me, please, they'd have immense value in combat, especially for those who've done chiro orthopedic and or radilogic residencies, and also for those trained in activator therapy, a handheld spring loaded instrument chiros use that has done my wife's back immense good, I assure you. I trained , before my now total perm disability, as a podiatrist, though we've since unfortunately had to shut my license now, with sevl chiros, whom ive been most privileged to watch, and compare their approaches with those used in osteopathic manipulation, which uses such approaches as trigger point modalities, and while not the same, I can very much assure all of you that chiro, which I had also applied for and very seriously considered, is very real, and of very real and serious clinical benefit, most definitely, !any thanks, hope was of value and interest . When they healed, my spine was never the same again. I went through the final 3 and a half years of my service with a "bent" and twisted spine, and the last 6 months of that on profile. I got out and went through physical therapy, cortisone injections, the works. The odd part was the x-ray showed the problems but the VA rejected my disability twice. Then came the herniated and bulging discs years later. First, the trained medical doctor looked at me and said "muscle strain". Told him I've pretty much had strained muscles for the past 12 years. It's not a strained muscle. He gave me a prescription for muscle relaxers and ibuprofen which I chucked in the trash on my way out the door. Found another doctor who I had to convince to refer me for an MRI (to confirm the disc issues). Got the MRI, found the problem, received yet more cortisone injections, no help. They suggested surgery and I said "HOLD THE PHONE". Found a chiropractor. He told me what was wrong just by looking at me (though he took an dray to confirm). Three visits a week for the first two months,, I was back on the golf course in less than 3 months.
I'm not understanding the "combat" function in another post. There are plenty of doctors and nurses that don't serve in combat. Dentists don't serve in combat (if they do, it is not as a dentist but to perform some other function, maybe to get their CIB or something). I think one of the problems they have is a chiropractor isn't a quick fix person. They don't throw a cast or bandage on someone and say "come back in 6 weeks". They don't give someone a shot and say, "there, you should be good in a few hours". Chiropractic care takes time but, properly done, is very highly effective. Read about the flexner curriculum and how DOs enhanced their programs to eventually force AMA to accept AOA on am equal footing, and get the autobiography of Dr Andrew Taylor still the founder of osteopathy in the US after the civil war. AMD his relation with chiros in the US whom I'd read used his techniques in osteopathic manipulative therapy or OMT to develop chiropractic in the US you've doubtless heard such accounts. I'm assuming or gathering you're a chiro now, I'd very seriously look at petitioning usphs commissioned corps they might be more flexible, ask, trust me well worth trying, look up their health svc ofcr or HSO field, youll find it using Google. Next, I never was able, I was podiatry, I can't anymore we shut my license due to mow total perm VA disability, however if you can publish, and or patent, if you have reference those in your applications, next look up usuhs, and apply to the usuhs pH.d. programs in biomedical sciences e.g. physiology, microbiology, pathology, etc. If you're chiro now as I expect, are you licensed ? If so, where, and for how long ? What residencies and or fellowships have you done, especially in chiro orthopedics and or radiology? The more you tell me, the more I might possibly be able to suggest to you, that's all I'm saying. Next , you might consider submitting a congressional appeal for review, if you've deployed, I was noncombat but wanted to go where you're trying to go, I assure you, I never did, though I did try, if youve deployed that could certainly help you, especially if you were in any of the recent things, most assuredly. I'd also look for members of Congress who are clinical and or military for help, and ask your own legislators if they could request assistance from such congressional colleagues as well as in your state and or territorial govt as the case may be. Next look at and seek to join AMSUS the main Amer mil med profesnl society, see if others in it are also chiros seeking to go active duty. Next look at SGAUS, the main state defense force or SDF profesnl body, look at how chiros as I'd mentioned before managed to get the NY guard under the NY air and army Natl guards not federal, state force, to let chiros, I'm reasonably certain they actually did it helping with I think though am uncertain the disaster in NYC in 2001 and, I believe hurricane sandy , I dont know if other SDFs allow chiros also, trust me ask. Next you might also want a pH.d. and to teach as college faculty , even as an adjunct. I did know for sure of one chiro at a major med school Hosp by me with a PhD who was able to get in there as faculty in bioengineering, that was what his PhD was in, trust me for what you want a PhD seriously can open such doors. Next, the ACA for chiros must have looked into that whole problem, incl with possibly AMSUS, find out who, call them meet them ,join their lobbying efforts, pods in NY just got the ankle after quite literally tilting at that window for decades, beating down orthopedic objections. Look at scope of practice aspects as to how PhD and psy.d. in psychology got the services through USUHS I believe to allow them a special experimental postdoc fellowship to scrip I believe psychoactive meds, the psychiatrists were I'd read objecting strenuously, look at how dental oral surgeons created a back door to DO and especially MD programs through oral!surg residencies as far back as the late 70s that I'd looked into extensively. Look at how opto!etrists ODs were able to get scrip privileges for optometric meds, and how I think NM is one state that lets psychologists still earn psychoactive scrip privileges. I'd read ODs in Idaho tried to be allowed to do vision correction surgeries with fellowship training, though they didn't get it, however other than LASIK type, I THINK they got it through the efforts of a group of OD students in OK I'm not sure check it. Look at how NPs got scrip and hanging a single privileges, in NY where my wife and I are they're affiliated with clinics in pharmacies I'd looked into thaymslighly just out of interest I scope of practice efforts. Look at how pharmacists all went pharm.d. now, with scrip privilegesmoff formularies in some states, and , also, in at least one case I'd heard of, some diagnostic privileges after advanced Intl med fellowship training. Last look at the naturopaths or NDs and their efforts to gain state licensure, look up their schools and read about them, their efforts have been quite serious, and I've heard very good things about all their schools, they want licensure recognition for a long time now, all those problems are similar to what you seek, and might give you thoughts , honest. Please let me know your thoughts, I'd be most eager to offer you more, of I might possibly be able, if you'd care to send a link on here , I'd of course be most eager to chat further, hope was of use, many thanks .
