When is the last time you were at Camp Pendleton?

Yesterday, Oct 12, 2018, I was searching for the Sgt Reckless statue, a Marine Pack Horse during the Korean War. When I went into a housing office for directions, I asked how many family housing units were on base. The response was over 7,000.

The Sgt Reckless statue is in front of the Pacific View Event Center, behind the new Navy hospital.

Thanks, Chuck! I never did it I have a chance to see that new display. I spent part of my two weeks of active duty training at Red Beach at Camp Pendleton. We were working with an Army Reserve expeditionary Brigade and they were involved with having vehicles pick up supplies from Yermo and drive them to a port of Camp Pendleton and load them onto a roll-on roll-off ship then they were shipped to I think San Diego Harbor where they were offloaded and then driven back to Yermo. The exercise is called Big Lots. For big Logistics over the sea. The main post has changed a lot and it looks even more creature Comfort than Fort Irwin. Some parts of Fort Irwin almost remind me of Downtown Disney. Both Camp Pendleton at Fort Irwin have invested a lot of money into infrastructure. The active-duty have it much better than what I recall years ago. I was at Red beach for a few days. I also went to the harbor site and saw the M track Museum and I went to an Army Reserve Center located on the main post is the location of one of the Army Reserve expeditionary Logistics Brigade
