When deployed, how long do you have to be in country before you get extended tour pay?

I’m in Afghanistan and they are asking people to volunteer to stay longer over here, and I was wondering how long do you have to be in country before you get extended tour pay?

Wow, I haven’t heard about extended tour pau in a long time considering my last deployment was 19 months. I want to say it’s anything beyond 12 but I could be wrong.

Last I knew it started in day 366 BOG. Combat stripes and combat pay go by calendar month, but that extension pay goes by the day. But that was also 7 years ago, I haven't had to worry about it since 2013. Since then I have had shorter deployments and then retired.

If you're asking about Assignment Incentive Pay (AIP) it changes from time to time.
