What would you like on your headstone when you have died? What would you like for it to say? Or does it even matter?

I would like my headstone to simply read "Marine!" I suppose my family might want my name & dates on it, however.

Something I say to my kids " I love you to the moon, stars and back and all around the world." "I'll see you in Dreamland" - the dreamland thing started when they were little. Wanted them to know that I was always with them and when we are apart, we come up with places to meet in dreamland: with the Ninja Turtles, visiting the Carebears. I don't care if my tombstone says anyting else cause to me, having my kids and being the best Mom possible to them IS my greatest accomplishment

My dad is buried in the Houston National Cemetery. After about two weeks I went back to see my dad. I was staring at the headstone, then, all of a sudden, I noticed my name was on it. I'm a junior ,my dad is a senior. It was the strangest feeling seeing what my headstone would look like. I told the office about it, and it was corrected.

CH (MAJ) William Beaver Great Question!!! You know, You never think of these things until you get put on the spot about them. I would have to say. Those Words for a Military Monument would about sum it up for me. Now if it was going to be a private monument, I would put more, but Since that isn't in the cards we'll leave it with "Loving Husband, Father and GrandFather.

You can pick out your headstone at the City Hall Veterans Affairs office and I picked mine out 3 years ago. It is a simple plaque with the following inscription:
Thomas J. Cunnally
SGT
US Marines
Late Korean War
Nov 10 1935
------------

Note: Late Korean War = served after truce agreement July 1953
