YOU ALL are my heroes and a large part of the reason I served my country. All of you are owed a debt that will likely never be fully paid. You have my utmost respect for where you have been and what you have done, especially the way you were treated upon returning or being seen in public in uniform, with a short haircut, military length, was and in my opinion is still reprehensible.

The soldiers who return today are cheerfully greeted patted on the back and told thank you. While you veterans were spit upon and had insults hurled at you. NONE of the Vietnam vets wanted to go to war, but because you were all ordered to do so, you went. So speaking only for myself Thank you and welcome home. May God protect you and give you peace.

C.Response by SPC Charles Brown made May 2 at 2015 6:10 PM2015-05-02T18:10:49-04:002015-05-02T18:10:49-04:00MAJ Ken Landgren637037

How they were treated is one of the greatest national travesties as many are still stuck there mentally, are sad, and remain bitter. I say hello to all the veterans and have a soft spot for the WWII and Vietnam veterans. I convinced a Vietnam reunion organizer to go on a cruise, that America is ready for you now.Response by MAJ Ken Landgren made May 2 at 2015 6:39 PM2015-05-02T18:39:27-04:002015-05-02T18:39:27-04:00SP5 Michael Rathbun637489

Glad to hear that it's been working.

We really meant it back in 1983 at the VVA Founding Convention.Response by SP5 Michael Rathbun made May 3 at 2015 12:42 AM2015-05-03T00:42:34-04:002015-05-03T00:42:34-04:00SSgt Jim Gilmore1189261
